The traditional two-day event was split into three heats, of which the aggregate result counted. Carel didn’t attend qualifying but nevertheless managed to climb up to sixth out of eleven starters at the end of the first heat. The second heat went much worse and he finished ninth and last. Although he only finished eight in the third heat, Carel was seventh on aggregate.
Jack Brabham took victory by finishing first with his private Lotus 24 in all three heats.
