Porsche lent Carel another RSK for his home Grand Prix – a mid-seater this time. He had some difficulty with the handling of the car and Stirling Moss offered to drive a few laps to see what he could find. Alas it didn’t help De Beaufort much for he remained over five seconds of the pace, even that set by the all new underperforming Aston Martin Grand Prix cars.

The race turned out a surprise battle between the BRM of Bonnier, which had been quick all weekend, and the Cooper of Masten Gregory, which had a rocket start from seventh and took the lead on lap two. After gearbox problems Gregory had to give way to Bonnier.

Bonnier won for BRM after a severe battle with the Coopers of Moss and Brabham, who came in second. Gregory managed to nurture his Cooper to third after Moss had retired. Carel was amongst the finishers, albeit in tenth and last place and seven laps down after an uneventful race.
